22nd Annual Dumpster Days a Success
Almost 5,000 gallons of household hazardous waste were collected from Eaton Township residents by the Ross companies on May 7th and 8th.
Sponsors of the event included Eaton Township and several local companies: Ross Environmental Services, Inc., Ross Incineration Services, Inc., Ross Transportation Services, Inc., and Reed's Salvage Corp. Household hazardous materials were collected by the Ross companies free of charge to the township residents, and included materials such as used paints, motor oil, household chemicals and cleaning products.
This year's collection event in May marked the 22nd time the Ross companies have collected household hazardous waste materials as a free community service for Eaton Township residents. Over the past 17 years, they have collected more than 98,000 gallons of household hazardous waste.
Compared to last year's collection event, the number of deliveries fell from 191 in October 2009 to 163, a 15% decrease. At the same time, the total volume of HHW per delivery held steady at around 30.25 gallons this year, compared to 32.25 gallons last October.
