Traffic to RIS/RTS To Be Temporarily Rerouted
The Lorain County Rural Wastewater District (LORCO) recently began construction of a sewer line in Eaton Township. Beginning this week, will crews will be working on Giles Road removing trees. Then, construction will begin on Monday, February 22nd.
The construction will occur on Giles Road, between Route 82 and a point just west of the Ross Incineration Services, Inc. and Ross Transportation Services, Inc. facility. Construction will actually begin at a point just east of the RIS/RTS facility and not at Route 82 as we previously understood.
While construction is underway, access to the RIS/RTS facility from Route 82 will be restricted to just one lane of traffic.
Because we are concerned about the safety of our associates and our neighbors, we have discussed traffic safety issues with officials from Eaton Township and Lorain County and asked for their agreement to reroute traffic to and from the RIS/RTS facility while there is sewer construction on Giles Road. They have agreed that it will be safer for everyone if we temporarily reroute traffic.
Beginning on Monday, February 22nd, when phase one of the sewer construction begins on Giles Road, please take the temporary detour route on Giles Road to Durkee Road and then from Durkee Road to Butternut Ridge Road as shown on the map below. This will enable our drivers, associates, customers and outside carriers to access the facility from both Route 10/480 and Route 83/I-90. For safety reasons, we are discouraging truck traffic from traveling on either Grafton Road or Route 57 to Durkee Road as sewer construction is ongoing in this area.
Please note that this is only a temporary rerouting of traffic. Once the first phase of sewer construction is completed, traffic will once again be directed to our normal route. We will post an announcemet on our website when the first phase of construciton is completed. We understand that this may take two to three weeks.

Construction will take place in two phases and so we will need to use the detour route again in the next few months. We will post information on our website when the second phase of construction will take place.
We apologize for any inconvenience that this may create for our neighbors who reside on the temporary detour route. However, we truly believe that it is in the best interest of everyone in the area to reroute the traffic and avoid potential safety hazards during construction. If you have any questions about this traffic issue, or any of our operations, please contact Maggie Kelch, Ross Environmental Community Relations Manager by phone at (440) 366-2076 during regular business hours (8 am - 5 pm weekdays) or by email: mailto:mkelch@rossenvironmental.com
